pg 200 plot summary

In this section, Ender begins to question the family of Nivinha, and they begin to grow to like him. This upsets Novinha, because they never showed her the same affection they showed this stranger that they hardly even knew. but the children didn't feel that way. the saw that he was healing the pain caused by Marcao, and Novinha and her cold heart.

Now Ender has set up an appointment with Don Cristao, the lead monk at the Children of the Mind of Christ. This is significant because since he arrived, Ender has been in this struggle with the church. But now, the monks seem to trust him and respect his good intentions. this brings up a conflict between the clergy and the monks. During his talk with the monk, Jane, his AI assistant, says something about his sister and he becomes offended. Because of this. he decides to turn off his jewel, which is the way Jane communicates to him. This action shatters Jane's hold on reality, and she has to reestablish her connection with the entire computer network. when she comes back, she refuses to talk to Ender, and starts doing things without permission.

Jane hacks Novinhas secret files, and publishes them to the Starways Congress, who immediately begin to shut down the colony. Ender, who is now on his own, tries to hack Novinhas files, but when she finds out, she turns the whole family against him, and he loses the trust he had worked to gain.

Some of the archetypal events that begin to unfold are as follows. The story so far can be seen as a journey, where the hero and the Innocent children continue learning the secrets of the piggies. the secrets that Ender uncover about Novinha causes the family to look at everything in a different light.

the other archetypal event that can be seen is the rites of initiation between the older children and Novinha.

Pg 150 plot summary

By this time, Ender has launched himself headlong into the investigation of the deaths of Pipo and Libo. Novinhas family was at first resistant to the Speaker, but began to see him as a friend after he helped heal some of the deep wounds caused by the years of tension between Novinha and her husband, Marcaos. Ender and his computer helper, Jane go to speak with the Filhos de la Mente Christo, the Children of the Mind of Christ, to learn more about Novinhas childhood and her relationship with Libo. At this point, he has learned that they were having an affair, and Novinhas children are actually Libos.

There are several archotypal settings that begin to emerge in this part of the book. The forest, where the piggies live, represents a place of evil and mystery, where monsters live. However, the author portrays the piggies as friends of the humans, not monsters (although they are starting to emerge as murderers).

There is a river between the piggies and the humans, although it is not yet defined if the humans are on the evil side or the piggies. the reader is led to believe the humans are good, but after the xenocide, and the questionable ways of the church, the piggies might be the pure and good group.

More to come later, but for now, the only portrayed archotypical settings are the river and the forest.

pg 100 plot summary

By page 100, Ender has arrived on Lusitania to speak the deaths he has been called to. He is beginning to learn more about the "piggies," and also about Novinha, the woman who summoned him. There are some key conflicts being highlighted in this part of the book, including the internal conflicts of Novinha and her family, the scientists and the government, and Ender and the Catholic church.

Novinha has recently experienced two deaths, one of her close friend and father figure, Pipo, and his son Libo, her secret lover(ill explain that later). Not only are these loses devastating to her, she blames herself for both of them.

The scientists, called xenologers, are attempting to perform a thorough study of the "Piggies," but for fear of another xenocide, the government has restricted access to the point where it is very difficult to learn anything. this angers the xenologers, and leads some to break the rules.

Ever since his arrival on Lusitania, Ender has found it extremely difficult to do anything without the interference of the colony's bishop. He has told everyone that Ender is a worker for the devil, and he cannot be trusted. this is making it rather hard to accomplish his mission, but Ender still presses on.
